Monochrome Logos: A Showcase

We’re huge fans of logo design here at Print Express, having written about every kind of design from unusual logos to colourful logos and even running the Rejected Logo Competition, and today I wanted to highlight another trend in branding: monochrome. Monochrome logos are most commonly black and white, but they don’t have to be – they’re predominantly one colour against a background, and that one colour can make them extremely elegant, simple and look great when printed. They also often have the benefit of being as clear and recognisable when they’re on a small scale as they are when they’re large (although this isn’t always the case).

Monochrome logos can look particularly striking – I think it’s because they also have strong elements of minimalism to them. They usually have to be pared down to just the strongest elements, and that can result in a very bold aesthetic. I’ve been particularly fascinated with monochrome logo design lately, and I wanted to bring together a collection of some of the more interesting, bold and striking examples. Hopefully you’ll find this showcase gives you a creative boost and encourages you to try your hand at your own monochrome logo design (or even perhaps redesigning your own logo to use only one main colour).

I hope you’ve found this showcase to be interesting and that it’s given you some ideas about design directions you can take your own logos in. As always, if you know of any monochrome logos (and especially if you’ve designed any) that you’d like to share, we’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
